Invited by HIT Industry-University Cooperation Office, Dr. Friedemann Kunst, an expert of GIZ and Director of Berlin Transportation Bureau visited HIJIT on December 4, 2013. GIZ is a German government-owned enterprise, which devotes to sustainable development of international cooperation around the world. It has a history of 30-year cooperation in China. As a bilateral cooperation organ, GIZ is entrusted by German government, and aims to promote development and cooperation which will benefit both China and Germany.
Ren Yongwei, Director of Industry-University Cooperation Office and Meng Zhongyuan, Director of International Cooperation and Exchanges held the meeting with the experts before the lecture. In the Yi Fu Library, Dr. Friedemann Kunst gave an academic lecture on “Urban Development, Transportation and Environment, Challenge and Experience of Berlin”, which is hosted by Director Meng Zhongyuan. Office members from Harbin Transportation Bureau, faculty and students from Civil and Architectural Engineering College, Surveying and Mapping Engineering College and Automobile and Traffic Engineering College attended the lecture.
Dr. Friedemann Kunst illustrated the shift of Berlin’s city planning, traffic strategy, ways of reducing the gas emission from vehicles, parking policy and parking management, presenting the theory and methods of achieving success among environment, economy, society and politic.
The faculty and students raised questions after the lecture, asking hot issues such as “large city planning” and “traffic control”, Dr. Friedemann Kunst supplied his complete answer. Afterwards, experts had a visit to the labs of Automobile and Traffic Engineering College and HIT Engineering Culture Museum.
